Aquagenomics

Three XRAq groups participate in this project: Reproductive Biology (ICM 2), Immunology and Stress in Aquaculture (UAB 2) and Molecular Physiology in Fish (UB 1).

infraestructuresAquagenomics main goal is to develop new biotechnological tools for aquaculture, especially genomic tools and microarrays. Aquagenomics wants to shed new light on the molecular basis of pathology resistance, growth and reproduction of main cultured species in Spain: turbot (Scophthalmus maximus), gilthead sea bream (Sparus aurata) and sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax). UAB 2 group is the technological node that provides service to all partners working with sea bream and sea bass. This is a 5-year project (2008-2012) and belongs to the CONSOLIDER INGENIO 2010 project.
